A section of the world’s longest outdoor escalator, the Central–Mid-Levels escalator and walkway system. This is at the intersection of Shelley Street, and Elgin Street. The escalators exist because Hong Kong is dominated by steep, hilly terrain. The original piece is oils on a panel. I used a Renaissance technique of applying an underdrawing, which I covered with a clear coat. Oil paints were painted over the drawing. Now I understand why a painting could take a year, or more to complete. I spent 6 months on the original painting.
